Seek Ye First lyrics, chords, & sheet music is written for early piano. Two pages feature the well-known melody plus an optional descant. A third page shows how they are sung together.

...and one that I loved to sing as a teenager!
We sang this song in church and youth group meetings, A LOT.
It's nice that page one happens right around the Middle C region, where many beginning piano methods focus.
Here is the top of page 2, showing the descant, and a pretty left hand accompaniment, which is very plain, except for an inversion that occurs in measure 24 (and which could be ignored).
Depending on the age of the student, page 2 could be begun in the first year (for an older student) or when a younger child achieves the octave span necessary for the "broken chord stretch." (See the Free Lead Sheets page for more about using chords.)
This page is primarily for singers... most young pianists would find this page baffling.
Well, it turns out that Seek Ye First is still under copyright. However, SheetMusicPlus holds publishing rights to the song, and I do some arranging for them. Therefore I can offer this piece to you for sale - SheetMusicPlus charges $5.00, of which I will receive 50 cents.
Here is the link at SheetMusicPlus to the three-page arrangement in the key of C
And go here is the link to Seek Ye First for the key of D, a happier key for guitar and violin.
Your students will likely love this peaceful-sounding song with its beautiful promise that "all these things shall be added unto you," if you seek the Kingdom of God.

This is the perfect easy start for little pianists.
And when they start reading white-key notes on the staff, this is a fun easy resource to say each week, "Choose a new black-key song at home this week and figure it out to show me next lesson!" They will be spending more time at the piano.
A perfect read aloud storybook
for little boys or girls.
The Adventures of Tonsta highlight the travels of a very young boy with a good heart, who goes about helping folk in trouble.
With a red cap on his head and a sack of tools slung over his shoulder, Tonsta seems to meet people in distress wherever he goes.
Lots of trolls in this book - including one who gives him a Christmas gift!
Hi, I'm Dana! (Say that like "Anna".) I'm the owner of Music-for-Music-Teachers.com, and a newer site, SingTheBibleStory.com.
Like some of you, I've been playing the piano since early childhood, and have added a few other instruments along the way, plus an interest in arranging and composing music.
You can find out more about me and the reason for this website at my About Me page.
