Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a childhood prayer, and now it is a song for singing, and for your beginner pianists to play.
That piano version in the video can be found over at my other website, SingTheBibleStory.com.
The arrangement below, downloadable at the bottom of this post, is even simpler.
Please scroll down the page for the download links.
This piano song is a late beginner arrangement. It's pretty easy, despite the Ab that shows up in the left hand, and the right hand thumb starting on a D.
When I was a little girl, I frequently spoke this prayer in the quiet of my bedroom before falling asleep. Some people might find the words disturbing - "if I should die before I wake" is a somber statement.
Death - physical death - is a certainty for all of us. This short prayer sums up this reality, and can bring comfort if a child - and parents! have the hope of an after-life.
In my view, only a Biblical worldview offers a true hope of continuing life, and of knowing the Creator of the universe.
HE WANTS US TO KNOW HIM - and learn to love Him!
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
"Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
As I mentioned before, over on my other website, SingTheBibleStory.com, I have the fuller arrangement shown in the video at the top of the page.
Additionally, I have featured more Bible verses that spell out beautifully just how interested the Lord God is in each one of us, and why we can have hope even after the death of a child.

This is the perfect easy start for little pianists.
And when they start reading white-key notes on the staff, this is a fun easy resource to say each week, "Choose a new black-key song at home this week and figure it out to show me next lesson!" They will be spending more time at the piano.
A perfect read aloud storybook

The Adventures of Tonsta highlight the travels of a very young boy with a good heart, who goes about helping folk in trouble.
With a red cap on his head and a sack of tools slung over his shoulder, Tonsta seems to meet people in distress wherever he goes.
Lots of trolls in this book - including one who gives him a Christmas gift!

Like some of you, I've been playing the piano since early childhood, and have added a few other instruments along the way, plus an interest in arranging and composing music.
You can find out more about me and the reason for this website at my About Me page.
