The main issue I found, especially with new students is that they were so nervous, that trying to get them to even warm up was difficult. I decided to try something called the 'Boogie Song'. I always ask my students what sort of music they like to listen to. Once I've pinpointed a favourite song I play it to them before we do anything and ask for them to dance around the room (I do it with them too), and this helps to relieve any tension.

That's funny! It seems like a neat idea for some kids. Personally, I would have died of embarrassment as a student dancing around the room with my teacher!
